Concord/Penacook Leaf Pick-up 2018

Hi All,
Just a quick note to let you know that the city council voted unanimously to keep the current leaf pick up in the fall and added a two to three week additional bagged pickup.
So nothing changes regarding the city coming around and vacuuming up your leaves. What does change is the last two to three weeks of pickup. If your leaves have been vacuumed and more leaves have fallen from your trees (or your neighbors trees) you can bag them and they will also be picked up.
I want to point out that the recommendation from the Solid Waste Advisory Committee was to go to bagged pick up only. It is because so many in the city contacted their city councilors and testified at our meeting that the primary recommendation was not accepted by the council and the secondary hybrid suggestion (which is explained above) was approved.
Because of the difficulties the vacuuming program has experienced in the past, I was leaning towards supporting the bagged program. Because of the number of people who contacted me, you made me realize that it was important to maintain our current system for the fall leaf pick up. So thank you for taking the time to contact me. While what you have to say has always been important to me, it was good to see that the rest of the council also listened to their constituents

And as always you can contact me at:

2018 Fall Leaf CollectionFall Leaf Collection is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, October 29, 2018 and continue as weather permits through December 7, 2018. Residents should have leaves ready to the curb by the start of the program to not miss collection. Be prepared for crews to only come by once since there is a limited time frame for crews to collect leaves throughout the city. Three crews will be collecting leaves throughout the city. It cannot be predicted when crews will reach certain areas due to unpredictable leaf volumes and weather conditions. Once collection starts, our Fall Leaf Collection Map will become available to display where crews have already collected from the previous day. Zoom in to the color-coded crew routes to see the dates of completed collection. The map helps to forecast the direction of collection, but the course can change and residents should prepare their leaves for the start of the program.

Drop-Off Leaves
Concord residents can dispose of their leaves for free at Gelinas Excavation & Earth Recycling Center if the load is smaller than a non-commercial pick-up truck. Brush, branches, and limbs can be dropped off separately for a nominal fee. Proof of residency is required. Loads must be 100% free of any unacceptable materials. Residents will be required to empty contents of bags when disposing of yard waste. Any unacceptable materials found must be retrieved by person(s) dumping. Gelinas Excavation reserves the right to reject any load. Illegal dumping will be subject to fines and penalties.
