Updated NH State Veterans Cemetery

     COVID-19 Policy – effective June 8, 2020

  1. As of Monday, June 8th the number of guests authorized to attend services will increase to 40 (not including clergy, if applicable).
  2. Individuals that want to stand near the gravesite during the service are requested to wear a face covering. Those who choose not to wear a face covering will be asked to stand at a greater distance from the burial location and will NOT be allowed near the burial area until after the interment is complete and all cemetery personnel have vacated the area.
  3. Social distancing from cemetery staff, clergy, Honor Guard, and funeral directors is required. Social distancing among guests is strongly suggested.
  4. Pall bearers, family and/or funeral directors will move the casket, if applicable. We do request that face coverings are worn.
  5. Clergy may remove their mask during the service but are requested to remain at least 15 feet from honor guard and other personnel while speaking.
  6. Military Honors are being conducted by all branches except the Coast Guard.
    1. The Honor Guard will wear protective masks and gloves.
    2. Presentation of the flag is at the discretion of the family. If the flag is presented by the honor guard, the person receiving the flag and anyone in the vicinity MUST wear a face mask. The other option is to have the military fold the flag and return it to the casket or urn table for the family retrieve after the service.
    3. NOTE: The Army is not currently able to provide firing details for those eligible. The Air Force may be able to provide firing details for veterans who qualify for a firing detail. The Navy and Marine Corps do not provide firing details.
  7. Families may arrange, at their own expense, for a firing detail provided by a Veteran Service Organization.
  8. Please take all directions from the cemetery staff.
  9. Guests must leave the burial site immediately after the service is complete.
  10. Services are still limited to 20 total minutes.
  11. The administration building and chapel remain closed to the public.  Funeral Directors and family members are encouraged to continue electronic exchange of all paperwork.

Please contact the cemetery for any questions or clarifications.  Thank you for your continued support.
