Friends --
Today is day 32 without a state budget after Governor Sununu vetoed the legislature's compromise budget solely because he didn't get even more corporate tax breaks for large out-of-state businesses. Last week, state agencies came to the legislative fiscal committee requesting emergency transfers to ensure that critical services were not interrupted. We approved multiple requests including the funding needed to keep our state parks open and funding for persons with developmental disabilities. Over the past month we've heard from Granite Staters all across the state about the need for a state budget that works for everyone. Tomorrow, the legislature is holding the first of three public hearings on the effects of the continuing resolution. The hearings are open to the public and anyone who wishes to tell their story is welcome to speak. The details are below: Tuesday, August 13th @ 10:00am Topic: The effects of the continuing resolution on state departments and agencies other than Education and Health and Human Services Location: Room 210-211 in the Legislative Office Building Thursday, August 29th @ 10:00am Topic: The effects of the continuing resolution on Education Location: Room 210-211 in the Legislative Office Building Please remember the truth of the words of Justice Brandeis: "The most important political office is that of private citizen." Not governor, not state senator, not state representative. Private citizen. Keep standing up and speaking out. We need you and your voice now, more than ever! Take care Dan Feltes Comments are closed.
