Registration Opens for North Country Fly-Fishing Workshop

5/18/2017

CONCORD, N.H. -- Learn to fly fish while visiting beautiful northern New Hampshire! The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department is offering a beginning fly-fishing weekend course called "Fly-fishing, A-Z" on June 3-4, 2017, at Coleman State Park in Stewartstown, NH.  The course is presented by the Department’s “Let’s Go Fishing” program. It is open to anyone age 13 and older, however, those 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

This is a beginner’s weekend that will cover the basics of equipment, fly casting, stream ecology and safety. Trained instructors will guide participants in learning the basics of fly casting, knot tying, fish identification and much more on Saturday. The highlight of the weekend is the fishing trip on Sunday to Little Diamond Pond. All equipment is provided and participants are encouraged to bring along any gear or waders they have. No fishing license is required. The program is free of charge.
To reserve your spot in this program, you must pre-register. Go to www.fishnh.com/fishing/lets-go-fishing.html and select "Fly Fishing" and then "Register for a class."  Class space is limited, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note: Participants must make their own arrangements for overnight accommodations. Camping is available by reservation at Coleman State Park; motels and lodges are also available in the area.
Read a first-person article from NH Wildlife Journal magazine about this course at www.wildnh.com/pubs/documents/samples/hooked-lgf.pdf.
The NH Fish and Game Department’s "Let's Go Fishing" program has taught thousands of children and adults to be safe, ethical and successful anglers. Learn more about the program at www.fishnh.com/fishing/lets-go-fishing.html. The program is federally funded through the Sport Fish Restoration Program.
