Local nonprofits who wish to apply for grants from the Merrimack County Savings Bank Foundation need to do so prior to October 1st. Information and applications are available on the Merrimack County Savings Bank’s website at themerrimack.com/about/community-involvement. The Merrimack County Savings Bank Foundation was funded by Merrimack County Savings Bank in 1997 for grant-based contributions to non-profit organizations that enrich and improve the quality of life for residents living in the Bank’s service areas. Five Trustees, selected among the Bank’s Corporators and Board of Directors administer the Foundation and its activities, distributing a portion of the Foundation's endowment each year. While not focused on a particular category, the Foundation remains mindful of the receiving organization and its contribution to the quality of life of local residents.
The Foundation has supported literacy programs, after-school programs, environmental monitoring, as well as education and restoration of historic structures, organizations that provide support for individuals and families in challenging circumstances and equipment that helps to save lives. Grants generally range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are awarded to 501C3 nonprofits and public agencies based in greater Concord, Contoocook, Hooksett and greater Nashua. The Foundation supports projects that represent a high priority for the applicant organization and are related to its mission or development; demonstrate a clear, practical plan with objectives for services, participation and results; leverage other funding and/or voluntary support; offer evidence that project objectives will be accomplished within the grant period and demonstrate cooperation and collaboration with other organizations to provide greater community impact.
