The Red Sox visit is officially in the rear view mirror and it was judged by all to be a big success. A large number of town folk, together with a couple of hundred school kids from the Boscawen Elementary School enjoyed the presence of the Red Sox 2018 World Series Trophy accompanied by mascots Wally and Tessie. Wally and Tessie dispensed hundreds of hugs, high fives and posed for pictures with everybody. There are many folks to thank, but especially Ross Express who donated the funds to get the mascots here; Katy and Colm Brophy for the use of their lovely wedding barn; school officials, teachers and bus drivers from BES; and the several members of the BOHD Committee whose time and effort were appreciated, big time! So, now it is on the 120th Boscawen Old Home Day, officially on August 24th, but starting Tuesday, August 20th with “An Evening with Elektrisola.” At 5pm, WILDLIFE ENCOUNTERS will be on stage with a variety of fascinating “wild” animals which will be described, discussed, photographed and petted (carefully, in some cases). Refreshments will be served.
The Annual Boscawen Old Home Day Golf Classic is on for Thursday, August 22nd, with a popgun start at 9am. Golf, cart, prizes galore and a terrific chicken barbeque, all for $360. per foursome.
